Life is Messy

From Use All Your Eyes to See, published 2020.

Life is Messy

If he taught me anything
it’s that life is messy

I said
and then
I slammed my hand down
on your half-built clay sculpture
leaving a fist-shaped crater.
I was not sorry at all about it.
In fact I felt great. I hit it again.
Life is messy.
