Origami Persuasion

From the collection Rearrange, 2018.

Origami Persuasion

Every day and it is one more of
polite smooth and ruthless the pressure
the creases pushed harder
mountain and valley
paper-folding the dispute away
a new shape is forced
a shame at ever disagreeing
all that is left in the end

  1. Yes, people seem to think of origami as gentle, or elegant, but when I have tried it, it is a fight, it is rough and there is pressure. That is how I got this idea for this poem.
