Haiku 245 and 246

A quiet gold mine
that yellow marigold holds
mountains of sunshine

The fond memory
a piece of the fiery past
turned to cool lava.

  1. I love both of these. The first one reminds me of my childhood summers when the gold and orange marigolds would grow and my pet rabbits would have a wonderful time munching them. I also like that idea of memory combined with distance and time and perhaps some related emotional detachment transforming something once fierce and harmful into something cool and harmless.

  2. I’ve always liked marigolds and their strong personalities. And the bloom so long and so strongly. The lava one, I also thought of it as the hot emotions frozen in that shape, forever.
