Aged and Ageless

Aged and Ageless

This furniture is the embodiment of
Be what you are.
Sturdy tables and chairs
marred by water stains and
a few pencil marks. They have lasted fifty years
or more in this library reading room. I wonder
if a picture of this space
from fifty years ago
would look much as it does today
and I decide
emphatically
Yes.

  1. Well there is another thing in common. Because I love history and photographs, I often find myself wondering how much has changed between a past captured in a photo and the present. I like the idea of the furniture investing sturdiness and endurance in those studying there.

  2. Yes, I love this library – it really is a time capsule and yet every single piece of furniture, while a refinishing wouldn’t hurt, is as good as the day it was made. Seems to fit the idea of learning lasting forever.
