Earthly Immortal

Earthly Immortal

A curl of mist rising off the tangle of green
along the creek bank.
The strong morning sun
acting on the rain-soaked vegetation
raises a ghost of last night’s showers
brought to life and banished in an instant
by broad daylight

Digital collage from my photos of the Pennypack Trail (PA) just after it was converted from a rail line.

  1. Thank you. I remember when I wrote this, I was walking along the trail in Lorimer Park that morning, and things just seemed beyond the usual early morning; I felt everything was especially alive and vivid, with invisible things visible for a moment.
