Captivity

The instructor has a voice
She uses it.
The instructor has not heard about making
the learning experience pleasant
or respectful
to say the least
but we must listen
every word
because
otherwise we’ll lose our jobs.
We emerge
more educated
bruised and incompetent.
It is inevitable that
after this training session
some time will have to pass
before I can wash the aggression out
of my ideas about
working here.

    • I watched a group having a training session at the café section of the grocery store and it reminded me of countless sessions I had attended myself, and some more than 30 years ago, and this one was just like them. Some things are eternal and universal.
