Self-Image

A Twenty Minutes poem.

Self-Image

Spindly-stemmed orchids
line the counter
their awkward leaves splayed
their odd-shaped blooms drooping
They can’t even stand up by themselves
but need the support
of a discreet little green stake.
And people comment with hushed respect
– They are so beautiful –
And brush the petals
with gentle tentative fingers
as the orchids preen
here on the counter
in the produce section
of the grocery store.

I Love Being Me - flower small

I love being me. – mail art postcard, mixed media.
