This Is The Best You Can Come Up With?

A collage poem.

Tepid Despair

complain all you want to
cruel time
is in charge of the
plans
Not knowing
What else to do I said
I hope
I’ll manage

  1. I have the theory that when I do collage poetry my mind finds the words it wants at the time. I have been thinking about the passage of time and how each person’s time is limited here on earth. Maybe that’s it.

I have also noticed that of course, books need some kind of conflict to make a story as who wants to read a nice recounting of someone’s uneventful life, let’s say. So the vocabulary is slanted toward lots of conflict words and less of happiness and satisfaction and so on. At least in fiction, which is most of what I use. And that’s my other theory of how collage poetry gets directed. Since I have noticed this I have consciously been trying not to let the negative words put me into only expressing negative thoughts.

And the last theory. I enjoy making up my own little scenarios and they have nothing to do with my everyday life. It’s just fun to imagine (and to offload the troubles on to someone else!)

Thanks for reading all this and also the poems. I appreciate it.
