Lunchtime and Lots to See

Recently I ate lunch at my grocery store, along with a lot of other people. It was busy, many seats filled, and I had a lot to observe as I ate. Here are some haikus I wrote while taking a little time to eat my lunch.

Haiku Group Lunchtime Out

1.
Two very old men
eat lunch and shout cheerfully
over the table

2.
The pizza toppings
slowly slide down her shirt front
and land in her lap

3.
A commotion
Women holding soups collide
in the checkout line

4.
An altercation
very genteel but still vicious
over the last slice.

5.
The pale plump woman
spoons her soup lickety-split
Done in five minutes

6.
Mother taps her foot
Son talks on without a pause
Their lunches grow cold

7.
The man and woman
Eat and ignore each other
at their small table

8.
Two women eat lunch
Same dress style, same hair, same shoes
Saying the same things

9.
Necktie and white shirt
sits alone in the corner
Sushi and chopsticks.

10.
The plates pushed aside
Soup and salad forgotten
Serious words said

"I took this photo quite some time ago. The restaurant has since redecorated and then gone out of business."
